Genelia on Vidyut’s Khuda Haafiz being snubbed at big OTT announcement: Fair to expect an invitation

On Monday, Disney+Hotstar conducted a virtual press conference to announce the digital release of seven big films. While lead actors of four of the seven films took part in the meet – which includes Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Abhishek Bachchan, Vidyut Jammwal and Kunal Kemmu were ignored. Varun Dhawan hosted the chat.

Hours before the virtual press meet began, Vidyut Jammwal expressed his disappointment over not being invited and wrote on Twitter, “A BIG announcement for sure!! 7 films scheduled for release but only 5 are deemed worthy of representation. 2 films, receive no invitation or intimation. It’s a long road ahead. THE CYCLE CONTINUES (sic).”

The Commando actor received support in his Force co-star Genelia D’Souza. The actress took to social media and wrote, “Every film is made with a lot of love, a lot of sweat & a lot people giving it their all. Its only fair to want a little respect, its only fair to expect an invitation, its only fair to have at least been intimated. But then, sometimes even life is not fair. keep walking my friend. More power to you (sic).”

Filmmaker Kunal Kohli also came in support of the action star. He wrote, “Yes it does. Sadly & Rightly as Simon & Garfunkel said-After changes upon changes we are still the same. Keep fighting buddy. We’ve never met. But I feel what you’re saying. Stay strong (sic).”

Vidyut’s friend and actor Iqbal Khan boosted his friend’s morale and wrote, “Tu star hai mere bhai.. koi long road vong road nahi, ulte pair aayenge sab dekhna. Tera jaisa action, India kya, duniya mein bohot kam karpaate hain. For me and for millions out there you are number one. Bigggg hug (sic).”

Disney+Hotstar will premiere Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani-starrer Laxmmi Bomb, Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj: The Pride of India, Sadak 2 featuring Alia Bhatt, Abhishek Bachchan’s The Big Bull, Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film Dil Bechara, Vidyut Jammwal-starrer Khuda Haafiz and Kunal Kemmu’s Lootcase.

Vidyut Jammwal and Kunal Kemmu were not invited to attend the virtual press meet.

Kunal Kemmu also reacted to the snub on social media. He wrote, “Izzat aur pyaar maanga nahi kamaya jaata hai. Koi na de toh usse hum chhote nahi hote. Bas maidaan khelne ke liye barabar de do chhalaang hum bhi oonchi laga sakte hai (sic).”

Vidyut Jammwal’s Khuda Haafiz is a thriller, which also stars Shivaleeka Oberoi. Directed by Faruk Kabir and produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, the film is inspired by some real-life incidents. Lootcase, on the other hand, is a comedy film starring Kunal Kemmu and Rasika Duggal in lead roles.
